Where do I get a Mimosa unlock code?

From Mimosa, not from a reseller. Create a Mimosa Cloud account, scan the QR code on the box or open mimosa.co/start from any device, enter the radio's serial number, and the code is issued against that serial. Type it into the radio without dashes and press Unlock.

My Mimosa radio is registered to another account — what can I do?

The serial has to be released from the previous owner's Mimosa Cloud account before you can register it in yours. Can I get an unlock code for a second-hand Mimosa radio?

Yes, by the same route as a new one, but only once the serial is clear of the previous owner's Mimosa Cloud account. Codes are issued per serial from inside an account, so a serial still claimed elsewhere will not produce a code for you. Clear the ownership first, then use mimosa.co/start.

Do I need a Mimosa Cloud account to unlock a radio?

Yes. The manual's first step is to create a Mimosa Cloud account or log in if you already have one, and the unlock code is generated from inside that account. There is no way to unlock a Mimosa radio without one. B5-Lite accounts also complete an SMS country verification, once per account, not per device.

Is there a free Mimosa unlock key generator?

No. Unlock codes are issued per serial number from a Mimosa Cloud account, so a code that was not issued against your serial cannot unlock your radio, which is why every generator, key list and cracked code you find is fake. HI-GAIN does not issue Mimosa unlock codes either; only Mimosa issues those, against a serial number sitting in your own account.

How do I change the country on a Mimosa radio?

A country is selected during the unlock process, and unlock codes are specific to both the serial number and that country. The country can be changed later, but a new unlock code is required. Log into manage.mimosa.co, click your network name in the upper right, then Settings, then Account.

Where is the serial number on a Mimosa C5x or B5c?

On the label on the back of the radio, beside the QR code. The Mimosa reset procedure asks for the serial number located on the back of the device, and the box QR code and mimosa.co/start reach the same place, so the sticker on the radio is enough when the box is long gone.

Does each radio need its own unlock code?

Yes. Unlock codes are unique for each serial number, so the manual tells you to repeat the whole unlock sequence for every radio you own. A ten-radio order means ten separate codes. Plan for that before you climb a tower, because the manual warns against installing a radio in a remote location before it is unlocked.

Why are there two different Mimosa locks?

Lock 1 — the unlock code. The radio leaves the factory locked. Mimosa's wording is that “an unlock key must be obtained online prior to operation or unlock of the Mimosa backhaul radio”. You log in, type the code, click Unlock. For a brand-new radio that is the whole story.

Lock 2 — the cloud registration. That code is not generated in the radio. It comes from inside a Mimosa Cloud account, against one serial number. So when a second person claims a serial already registered to somebody else, no code issues. Nothing is broken: the serial belongs to another account.

Bought new? You have Lock 1. Bought used? You almost certainly have Lock 2 — locked to another account, the unlock code will not issue for my serial. That is the part HI-GAIN is paid to fix.

Where is the serial number on a Mimosa radio?

On the label on the back of the radio, next to the QR code. Mimosa's own reset procedure asks for “the device serial number located on back of device”. That matters, because a second-hand radio arrives with no box and almost everything written about unlocking assumes you still have it. The box QR code and mimosa.co/start reach the same place, so the sticker on the unit is enough.

That wording is the Backhaul B5 documentation's own. On any other Mimosa model — A6, B5x, B11, B24, C5, C5c, C5x, C6x, C6x Lite Edition — look on the back face beside the QR code first, then on the box. Photograph the label before you climb.

How do you get an unlock code for a new Mimosa radio?

The steps from Mimosa's Backhaul B5 manual, in its own order.

“Create a Mimosa Cloud account (or log in if already registered)”.
“Scan the QR-code on the box, or visit mimosa.co/start from any device”.
“Enter the device serial number at mimosa.co/start to obtain an unlock code”.
Select a country — “during the unlock process, a country must be selected to obtain an unlock code”.
“Log into the radio using the default IP address”.
“Type the unlock code (without dashes) on the radio, and then click the Unlock button”.
“Repeat steps 2-5 for each radio. Note that Unlock codes are unique for each serial number”.

Step one catches people out: without a Mimosa Cloud account, no code exists.

The manual is blunt: do not install a radio in a remote location without internet access before the unlock is finished. A locked radio on a mountain is a second climb. One exception: accounts operating B5-Lite radios must also complete the SMS Country Verification process, which the manual calls “a one-time requirement per account (not per device)”.

What exactly does HI-GAIN's Mimosa service do?

One job: we release a Mimosa radio from a previous owner's Mimosa Cloud account, so you can register the serial under your own. From US$15, turned around the same day, worldwide — not only in Lebanon.

What we do not do: HI-GAIN does not issue Mimosa unlock codes. Nobody but Mimosa can. Once the serial is released and sitting in your own Mimosa Cloud account, you generate the code yourself at mimosa.co/start in the ordinary way. The release clears the obstacle; Mimosa still issues the code. The radio does not have to have come from us.

Should you factory-reset a second-hand Mimosa radio?

Not as your first move. A reset is a configuration wipe, not an ownership wipe.

Mimosa's reset procedure for the B5, B5C and B11 runs like this. Unplug both Ethernet cables from the PoE for about three seconds. Plug in only the data-and-power cable. Immediately connect a laptop or phone to the mimosaR### SSID, where ### is the last three digits of the serial number; that window expires after five minutes. Browse to 192.168.26.1, enter the serial number from the back of the device, and click the reset button — “this action will remove all configuration settings and passwords”. The radio reboots for about 90 seconds.

Notice that you need the serial number to perform the reset at all, and that none of it touches which Mimosa Cloud account holds that serial. Safe order: find the serial, settle the account question, get your code in hand, then reset.

Does the reset cost you the unlock code? No. The manual answers it directly: “The unlock code is unique and reusable for one radio. If a radio is reset to factory defaults, the same code can be entered again on the same radio to unlock it without having to visit mimosa.co/start.” So the code you already hold still works on that same radio after a reset. What a reset does not do is change which Mimosa Cloud account holds the serial — which is why the order above still matters.

What if the radio is registered to the previous owner's account?

There is almost no honest answer left online, and there is a reason. The Mimosa Community forum where this used to be discussed has gone: on 4 September 2026 community.mimosa.co returned NXDOMAIN, and help.mimosa.co now redirects to mimosa.co/support.

Mimosa's published channel is email to support@mimosa.co, plus live chat on mimosa.co/support, whose hours that page gives as “Sunday through Friday, 11pm to 6pm PT (Monday through Saturday, 6am to 1am UTC) (20 hours a day, 5 days a week)”. Its warranty terms and RMA process are at mimosa.co/legal/warranty and mimosa.co/legal/rma. Mimosa Networks joined Radisys Corporation as a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2023, in its own words on that page, so a Radisys name on a reply is not a red flag.

Have three things ready before you write to Mimosa: the serial number, the model, and your proof of purchase — an ownership question put to the manufacturer turns on that last one.

Does the unlock code depend on the country?

Yes, and it is a real trap. The manual is unambiguous on three points: “During the unlock process, a country must be selected to obtain an unlock code”; “Unlock codes are specific to both the serial number of the device and the country selected”; and “The country can be changed later, but a new unlock code is required to do so.”

To change it, the manual's path is: log into manage.mimosa.co, click your network name in the upper right corner, go to Settings > Account, then pick your network from the “Choose a Network” drop-down.

Which country you pick is a regulatory question, not a shopping one, so settle it before you generate the code — changing it afterwards means a fresh unlock code.

Is there a Mimosa unlock key generator?

No, and the reason is arithmetic rather than opinion. Unlock codes are issued per serial number from inside a Mimosa Cloud account, unique to each serial. A code never issued against your serial cannot unlock your radio. Every “free Mimosa unlock key generator” and cracked-code download is selling you characters your radio will reject.

HI-GAIN's position, stated plainly: the one thing we do is release a serial from a previous owner's Mimosa Cloud account, so that Mimosa can issue a proper code against your own. HI-GAIN does not issue Mimosa unlock codes — only Mimosa does. To start a release, all we need is the radio's model and serial number.
